John Cope's Food Products, Inc.  History & Future

In 1900 the grandfather of John F. Cope of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, began one of the first commercial dried sweet corn operations in the United States.  As the business established its reputation for unique quality corn products, additional items were added as the years progressed and the business passed to each succeeding generation.

In 1960, John F. Cope, a third generation dried sweet corn producer, formed a Pennsylvania corporation and acquired the last remaining producer of dried sweet corn. After a major fire destroyed part of the facility in 1980, a new plant was built in 1981, which upgraded the dehydrating operation and added a cut corn freezing line. In 1983 frozen peas were added. In 1996 the air dried vegetable line was expanded to include peas and green beans. The development of additional frozen products is on-going and continuous.  In 1998 a third processing line was added in order to significantly increase the production of cut corn and peas and add the production of baby lima beans.

Today the company processes numerous varieties and styles of corn, peas, green beans, carrots and baby lima beans.  With a global procurement infrastructure and ten packaging lines, John Cope's Food Products can supply its customers with a complete line of IQF fruits and vegetables.
